chök Pau

chök is a Barcelona-born chocolate and pastry shop, and the Valencia branch on Carrer de la Pau is a feast for the eyes. They carry gluten-free options — including the cinnamon-style rolls we sample on the tour — that let you join in the very Spanish ritual of an afternoon sweet.

Because the counter isn’t fully dedicated, this is a good one to practise the golden rule on: tell them you’re coeliac and ask which items are gluten-free that day. On the tour we’ve already done that legwork for you.
